I am very lucky to be able to travel to Greece every summer because my husband is Greek and his parents have a house there on the Island of Kefalonia. I decided a few years ago that I wanted to shoot a wedding there so I contacted a coordinator and offered to do one free of charge to add to my portfolio. It has now blossomed and she gives me a couple of weddings every year to shoot! I am so lucky to be able to do what I love in such a gorgeous place! This past summer, Heather + Adam were married at the cutest chapel in the village of Lakithra. The chapel is on the side of a cliff that overlooks the Ionian sea. Heather and Adam met online, she lived in the States and he lived in England, but distance didn’t seem to be a problem and they decided to get married in Greece on Kefalonia! I was so lucky to be able to document their intimate and stunning ceremony. Thanks so much to Teresa Fragiskatos and My Greek Wedding Kefalonia!
Emily + Dave had their wedding in December at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bethesda, MD and then had their reception at St. Francis Hall in Washington DC. I shot Emily’s cousin’s wedding a couple of years ago and was thrilled when their family called me again to do Emily + Dave’s gorgeous day! They got engaged about 3 1/2 years ago in front of the Lincoln memorial in DC – then Dave surprised Emily by having all their family and friends waiting a bar downtown to celebrate with them. Dave is one of 9 kids so this was a big event! Emily got ready at The Mayflower Hotel in DC. I was absolutely in love with her dress – the plunging open back with lace, then it flowed into a tool bottom that was stunning! Both Missy and I were so happy to be a part of such an amazing event!

One of my favorite things about weddings is getting to meet some pretty cool people and getting to witness in other people what love is really all about. Its about finding that person that makes you happy and puts a smile on your face everyday. You could see that these two were so happy and had the love and support of all their family around them. Kate + Heather booked me via Skype because they live in California and I instantly felt very comfortable with them and knew I would be a perfect fit for their day. I work at The Oaks many times during the year and one of my favorite seasons is early fall – when they sun sets with a golden hue but there is a breeze off the bay that makes an outdoor ceremony much easier and pleasant! I loved Kate’s tool gown – they are the most fun to photograph because of the texture. Heather wore a beautiful white tailored pantsuit and white shoes. They had Seasonal Flowers for their gorgeous flowers with coral and sea green themed details. Missy second shot with me and we really were honored to be able to document their day for them!
